Weighted Final Grade

Points (out of 100)
Your result will appear here once assignments are added.

The Weighted Grade Calculator works out your overall course grade by combining your scores across multiple assignments, each carrying a different weight. Rather than treating every piece of work equally, a weighted grade reflects how much each component actually counts toward your final result — so a midterm worth 30% has more influence than a quiz worth 5%. Enter your assignments one by one and the calculator updates your final grade instantly as you go.

Formula Used

Your final grade is calculated as:

Final Grade = Σ (Assignment Score × Assignment Weight) ÷ Σ Assignment Weights

Each assignment’s percentage score is multiplied by its weight, all of those products are summed, then divided by the total of all weights. For the most accurate result, all weights should add up to 100%. The calculator will warn you if they do not.

How to Use the Weighted Grade Calculator

Follow these steps to calculate your weighted final grade:

  1. Enter an assignment name — Type a label for the component, such as “Midterm Exam,” “Homework,” or “Lab Report.” This is optional but helps you keep track of each entry.
  2. Enter the score — Type your percentage score for that assignment, for example 82 or 95.
  3. Enter the weight — Type the percentage weight that assignment carries in your final grade, for example 25 or 10.
  4. Add the assignment — Click “Add” or press Enter to save the entry. It will appear in the assignments table and your final grade will update immediately.
  5. Add more assignments — Repeat for each graded component in your course until all entries are included.
  6. Check the weight total — A warning will appear if your weights do not add up to 100%, prompting you to review your entries for accuracy.
  7. Review your result — Your weighted final grade is displayed as a percentage. A bar chart shows each assignment’s score visually so you can see at a glance where you performed strongest and weakest.
  8. Export as PDF — Use your browser’s Print function and select “Save as PDF” to save a clean record of your assignments and final grade.

Why Use This Calculator?

Reflects your actual grading structure — Different components of a course carry different weights, and this calculator respects that. A heavily weighted final exam will pull your grade up or down more than a low-weight homework submission, just as it would in your official result.

Unlimited assignments — Add as many graded components as your course requires with no restrictions. Works equally well for a simple two-component course as for a complex one with a dozen different assessments.

Weight validation — If your weights do not sum to 100%, the calculator flags it immediately so you can identify any missing or incorrectly entered components before relying on the result.

Visual score chart — A bar chart plots each assignment’s score side by side, giving you a quick overview of performance across all components without having to scan through the table.

PDF export — Save a clean, single-page PDF of your assignments and final grade for personal records or academic advising.

Free and accessible — Works instantly in any browser on any device with no account, download, or payment required.
